    Abstract

    Flow with Matterwas a mid-career retrospective in Minsheng Art Museum, one of Shanghai’s largest museums focusing in contemporary art. The exhibition was curated by Ma Nan, who besides her own practise works as curator in CAA Art Museum in Hangzhou. The exhibition made use of the museum ́s 2500 m2 exhibition spaces in two floors and it included works ranging from large-scale kinetic , light and sound installations to objects, reliefs, silkscreen prints and photographs. Several new installations were built at site on site-specific bases.The exhibition was the artists first solo exhibition in China and first international contemporary art exhibition in Shanghai after the Covid-19 pandemic which closed the city in spring 2020. According to the museum, Flow wih Matter is also the largest solo exhibition of a Finnish contemporary artist ever organized in China. Despite the pandemic the exhibition had about 90.000 visitors. It was given honor of Excellent Exhibtion in Shanghai in 2020 by Bureau of Culture and Tourism in Shanghai and Shanghai Association of Museums.
