Abstract

Reviewing all the basic research performed at the Landau Institute for Theoretical Physics, Russian Academy of Sciences that has made a significant contribution to physics is an unrealistic task. Therefore, the discussion is restricted to only those studies that have directly affected the author's explorations for 50 years (1968-2018). IMKhalatnikov created a unique institution that brought together virtually all areas of theoretical physics of importance, thus opening vast opportunities for scientific collaboration. The Landau Institute's multidisciplinary environment was a significant driver of research.
