Fault diagnosis system for variable volume pressure filter

    Abstract

    Fault diagnosis has been studied very actively during recent years. Increasing availability and minimising service costs are the main objectives for the fault diagnosis of process equipment. A high degree of availability and ease of maintenance and repair gives a competitive edge to the manufacturer. This paper presents the fault diagnosis module of the intelligent control system for the variable volume pressure filter. The system is capable of detecting the faults of the process and the equipment. The fault diagnosis system is integrated with the control system of the filter and works in parallel with it. The aim of the system is to indicate the undesired or forbidden process states and to take appropriate actions in order to maintain the optimal operation.
