Abstract

In this study, the performance of a micro-environment system was analyzed and compared with diffuse ceiling ventilation (DCV). In the analyzed micro-environment system (LVRP), two low velocity units and radiant panels were installed above the workstations to supply directly clean air to occupants and to cover the cooling power required. With DCV, all cooling demand is covered with air and thus, the airflow rate required is higher than with LVRP. The average exhaust temperature was 0.7 -1.9 °C higher than average room air temperature at the workstation. Moreover, the mean air temperature with the LVRP at occupied zone was 0.6 °C lower than with DCV. With LVRP, the air velocity was less than 0.12 m/s in the occupied zone. Also, the draught rate was less than 10%.
