Enzymology of soft-wood hemicellulose hydrolysis; The systems of Aspergillus niger and Trichoderma reesei

Abstract

Aspergillus niger and Trichoderma reesei produces enzymes that hydrolyze galactoglucomannan. Both organisms appear to secrete beta-mannanases of glycosyl hydrolase family 5, but only the T. reesei enzyme appear to have a cellulose binding domain. Three alfa-galactosidases of T. reesei belong to family 27 and 36. A family 27 alfa-galactosidase from A. niger has been reported in the literature. Additional alfa-galactosidases secreted from A. niger was characterized.
