Abstract
The scattering characteristics of dielectrically active spheres of arbitrary electrical size are discussed. Using electromagnetic Lorenz–Mie analysis, differences in the scattering behavior of dissipative, lossless, perfect-electric-conductor, and active scattering objects are highlighted. The focus is on the enhanced backscattering effect of an active object compared to a dissipative or lossless one.
