Abstract

In this study I investigate my own practice, which takes the action of wearing as inspiration for producing clothes. This study focuses on a clothing project, Dress(v.), its methodologies and outputs. In the project I research through design while creating pieces via creative pattern cutting informed by the uneventful moves of clothes changing. The intention is that these pieces can invite users to a more attentive gaze into the relationships we build with objects, strengthening bonds. The data set analysed comprises a written diary, processual visual records and the final pieces themselves. The analysis attempts to understand how embodied knowledge and values can be transferred to the final pieces via creative pattern cutting and calls for a more active experience of wearing.
