Abstract
One prominent application for millimeter- and submillimeter-wave beamforming is imaging, in fields such as medical sensing and personnel screening. Conventional imaging methods at millimeter- and submillimeter-waves are frequently based on electrical or mechanical beamsteering, as in [1] , [2]. However, the applicability of these methods is often limited by the size and scanning speed of the optomechanics, or the complexity and cost of the control electronics. Computational imaging methods utilizing quasirandom spatial illumination and sophisticated image reconstruction algorithms presents a solution to overcome these limitations using only a single transceiver configuration [3]. Cavity resonators and aperture masks have been demonstrated for quasirandom illumination at microwave and submillimeter wavelengths, respectively [4] , [5].
