Abstract
Positive user experiences and user engagement are utterly important for consumer products and services today. However, few organizations consider good user experience as an important criterion when purchasing digital systems for workplaces, despite the growing interest in improving employees’ well-being and work engagement. The key question in this special issue is how to utilize knowledge of employee experiences in designing interactive technologies that can improve work engagement. The articles published in this special issue introduce four distinct perspectives on research at the intersection of interactive systems, experience design, and work engagement.
