Abstract
Data governance is an emerging research area getting attention from information
systems (IS) scholars and practitioners. In this paper I take a look at existing literature and current state-of-the-art in data governance. I found out that there is only a limited amount of existing scientific literature, but many practitioners are already treating data as a valuable corporate asset. The paper describes an action design research project that will be conducted in 2012-2016 and is expected to result in a generic data governance framework.
