Abstract

The revised version of this chapter includes six sections: The first and second sections are about the introduction and description of design methodology. These two sections are basically the same as the previous version. The third to sixth sections are newly added contents. In the third section the calculation method of ventilation airflow rate is introduced. Meanwhile, common sources of heat load, moisture load, and pollutants in industry are described. In fourth section, considering the guidebook that should be more practical for engineering design, design processes of three kinds of ventilation systems are introduced. Especially, a new kind of ventilation system, the attachment ventilation system, is added. In the fifth section, simple description of local ventilation system is made, and more detailed information can be found in a separate Chapter 10 of Volume 2 titled Engineering Design; and Applications. In the sixth section the design of air duct is introduced. Especially, some new drag reduction components such as novel tee with cambered surfaces and protrusions are introduced in this part.
