Abstract

We demonstrate Captaina, computer assisted pronunciation training portal. It is aimed at university students, who read passages aloud and receive automatic feedback based on speech recognition and phoneme classification. Later their teacher can provide more accurate feedback and comments through the portal. The system enables better independent practice. It also acts as a data collection method. We aim to gather both good quality second language speech data with segmentations, and the teacher given evaluations of pronunciation.
