Assembly of nanoparticle superlattices using DNA origami as a template

Abstract

DNA origami nanostructures possess immense spatial accuracy, but they can also be used to arrange other materials into almost equally complex configurations. Here we provide an overview of how gold nanoparticle superlattice assembly can be guided by DNA origami templates. For that, we mainly use two fundamentally different recently developed approaches as examples. We introduce the types of nanoparticles used, the interaction mechanisms of lattice formation, important experimental features and the characterization techniques.
