    Abstract

A thermodynamic computer program was built in order to calculate equilibria between liquid steel and slag (SSE program). The activities for solute elements in liquid steel are presented using a modified Wagner formalism. The calculation of activities of slag components was based on Kapoor-Frohberg's slag model, further developed at IRSID. Activity of calcium sulphide was evaluated by experimental data. Reaction equilibria were calculated by the SOLGASMIX program. Different ladle treatments can be simulated by the program at various temperatures and pressures. As examples, the effects of various parameters on inclusions, e.g., calcium, aluminium, sulphur, carbon, and oxygen contents, as well as temperature, were studied. Results are compared with experimental data.
