Abstract

Intarsia
The existing buildings are recycled and developed in the spirit of a circular economy. The flat landscape has been developed into a fascinating micro-landscape with level differences. The concept ‘seed’ has been used with a dual meaning: The pre-existing elements of the site are the seed and dna from which the new complex grows and the proposal follows the analogy of the growing process of a seed. Seeds are planted underground, and it’s the land what provides them with the necessary nutrients to grow and expand to the exterior. The proposal follows this analogy of the growing process of a seed. The spaces given in the programme and the necessary connection between them are established through a collage formed by simple shapes based on the pre-existing elements of the complex and landscape. These shapes are distributed according to their internal functions.
