    Abstract

The aim of this study was to establish the effects of MgO additions to binary lead silicates, in equilibrium with metallic lead, on the lead oxide activity. The measurements were carried out in order to calculate also the behavior of the activities of SiO//2 and MgO in the melt over the whole homogeneous range, from pure PbO to silica saturation. Additional information for the ternary Gibbs-Duhem integration was obtained by determining the location of the silica saturation boundary at 900-1000 degree C.
