Abstract

Higher education plays a pivotal role in addressing global challenges, advancing social justice, fostering international relations and driving economic development.

The work discussed in this book has been guided by three central objectives: a commitment to fostering equal and equitable dialogue between academic communities across continents, a more accurate reflection of the lived experiences and perspectives of vulnerable and resource-scarce communities and finally the empowerment of future graduates to take responsibility for the societal implications of their work. Together, these objectives can elevate the academic quality and international relevance of universities’ contributions to society.

This book is a shared exploration of a journey that has been adapted and promoted by international partners and numerous open-minded individuals who have built their own initiatives to continue this work.
