Abstract

In this work, we present a novel mathematical programming formulation for solving the re-trimming problem. The proposed approach leads to optimal or close-to-optimal solutions with the effect of a significant reduction in quality loss, i.e. the economical loss based on degraded quality. The model introduced is able to consider quality profiles along the jumbo-reel as well as the requireements attached to each roll providing a geometric representation on the trim-loss problem.
