Tunable electronic and magnetic states in superconducting 2D materials

Description

Two-dimensional materials (2D) such as graphene and silicone are atomically-thin materials made of carbon and silicon atoms, respectively, arranged into a honeycomb lattice. These are wonder materials because of their superlative properties. Our goal is to make these materials superconductive and study the physics of these materials using scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy (STM/STS). With this tool, we can manipulate and investigate materials with atomic precision. We will push ourselves further to build structures on 2D materials through atomic manipulation. This project is very important to create materials to be used in futuristic electronic devices.
