The desire for more advanced active sensing technologies is driven by ever increasing requirements to the sensing accuracy and by the truly ubiquitous applicability of active sensing. Indeed, the active sensing applications range from radar, sonar, radioastronomy to tomography, biomedical engineering, environment and network monitoring. The exisiting and future active sensing applications will stretch active sensing technology beyond its current fundamental sensitivity and information limits. The prime goal of the proposed research program is to develop and advance a new active sensing paradigm which combines the advantages of using multiple sensing waveforms with the advantage of coherent waveform radiation and processing. The use of the new active sensing approach enables improving resolution quality and parameter identifiability, enhancing flexibility, while keeping the advantage of coherent processing. Highly qualified personal will be trained in the corresponding fields.
