Project Details

Description

This project focuses in three crucial 5G wireless transmission technologies: 1) massive MIMO, 2) advanced waveforms, and 3) interference coordination and management. Massive MIMO has significant potential to improve spectral and energy efficiency of large cellular systems. For smaller cells, multiple access based on advanced waveforms is a strong candidate to increased throughput. Finally, improved interference management is needed for the heterogeneous 5G deployments. The main goal of the project is to create a holistic methodology for energy efficient 5G systems, combining large massive MIMO cells with tightly coordinated small cells. Multiple access in this heterogeneous network is based on novel energy and spectrally efficient waveforms. A 5G platform will be developed for the performance assessment of the developed technologies.
