The aim of this proposal is to understand the influence of particles to the rheology and imbibition of foams. This increases the knowledge of physics of materials and the practical use of foam particle mixtures in industrial applications such as paper foam forming and oil drilling.
The goal is to compare the imbibition of foam and its statistical properties to direct measurements of foam rheology. This helps us to understand the fundamental physics behind the propagating elastic manifolds and how to control the foam behavior in a real, rough environment.
The result of the project is a model that is used in applications to optimize the propagation and behavior of particle laden foams. The model would then reduce the operational costs of industrial processes.
