Co-design of control and communication systems for wireless networked control systems

Project Details

The advancement of smart devices with impressive sensing, computing and control capabilities makes it possible for our cities, transportation systems, factories, and living environments to become more intelligent, energy-efficient, safe, and secure. Typically, the overall system is spatially distributed and communication between smart devices, i.e., sensors, actuators or controllers, is mainly supported by a shared, wireless communication network. There has been a great surge in research and industry towards the realization of such systems. ODYSSEY provides a novel and unified approach to achieve a long-term vision: to build distributed WNCSs and facilitate their integration into complex communication and control networks. The proposed research is novel in the sense that it employs realistic analytical models for both control and communication aspects of WNCSs, and aims at shrinking the gap between theoretical results and performance in practice via interdisciplinary endeavors.
