Project Details


The main objective of HUKATON project is to create new collaboration and business models for efficient waste heat recovery and heat storage in the built environment. The project creates new holistic concepts that are efficient and economically viable and based on new and smart value chains between various solution providers.

HUKATON project:
• Optimizes intelligent solutions for waste heat recovery and promote new solutions for energy storage and demand response through co-development and market dialogue.
• Develops demand-response and energy storage concepts to integrate buildings into an intelligent energy system
• Create new business models for companies providing solutions for waste heat recovery, heat storage or demand response.

The project will result in optimized solutions for selected example buildings in Helsinki and Turku, which will allow the building owners to make investment decisions and the project will also create integrated solutions and new value chains for companies. Example buildings of HUKATON project are: a residential apartment building, an ice and a swimming halls in Helsinki, as well as a greenhouse, a shopping center and a waste power plant in Turku.
