In the SUPER project, new readily recyclable nanostructured catalysts comprising of abundant raw materials are developed and assessed. These materials have potential to replace critical platinum group metal based catalysts in several existing and emerging processes including synthesis of biofuels from biomass and electrochamical energy storage and conversion applications. Structure, catalytic activity and reaction mechanisms of these materials are carefully investigated and computational studies are used to understand fundamental reasons for the functionality of the materials. We strongly believe that we can design and optimize new materials combining our expertise in modelling, synthesis and reaction studies.
