Wood modification using pressurized hot water

Project Details

Description

Properties of solid wood timber can be enhanced with different wood modification processes. The main objective of this project is reveal mechanisms that occur in wood cell-wall ultrastructure in pressurized hot water modification. In addition, by combining the knowledge related to the wood hydrolysis to that of the cellulose biorefinery processing, we target to exploit the added-value chemical compounds from the process wastewater.
