Description

We employ the powerful techniques recently developed in statistical physics to understand how cracks propagate slowly. The results
summarize the material's properties with a few effective parameters, and allow to grasp in a comprehensive fashion time-dependent
fracture and to understand the failure statistics of sample lifetimes. The results are expected to have a variety of very important
applications for materials design and fracture mechanics.
