Finnish Center for Artificial Intelligence (FCAI)

Artificial Intelligence opens new opportunities and poses new challenges in its relations to humans, which require developing new kinds of AI and its applications. The vision of FCAI is to build real AI, for real people, in the real world. FCAI will play a key role in Finland's recently published AI Program to transform industry, healthcare and working life. FCAI will enable the public and private sectors to work together to support research based innovations. It will enable individual citizens to work with AI and participate actively in the future work life. Our research focuses on three challenges: Data efficiency, Trust, and Understandability. The outcome is AI that is able to collaborate with humans in complex real-world tasks. FCAI research builds on our world-level expertise in machine learning, in particular probabilistic methods and deep learning, and involves a wide set of fields in research and education, with industrial actors participating.
