Computational modeling of language acquisition

This project uses computational modeling to study how spoken language is learned by human infants, and how the same learning process can be implemented in a computational system. More specifically, we study the use of a generic cognitive architecture for multimodal associative learning in order to i) to develop a computational system capable to learn and understand language without explicit supervision, ii) to develop new signal processing and machine learning methods for unsupervised learning, iii) to create new knowledge of language learning process in humans, and iv) to create a novel system for speech inversion.
