Competence Center for the Materials Bioeconomy: A Flagship for our Sustainable Future

Project Details

Description

FinnCERES – Competence Centre for the Materials Bioeconomy is a globally networked competence centre for bio-based materials. It brings researchers and companies together at an early stage of research to accelerate industrial utilization of the solutions. The Flagship’s aims are to redefine the bioeconomy with novel, advanced bio-based materials to develop such materials towards industrial production. These materials leverage the natural properties of wood and other raw materials, thus opening opportunities for sustainable economic growth.

Its research covers four themes: future biorefinieries, clean air and water, lignocellulosics beyond plastics, and electronics, optics and energy applications. FinnCERES seeks answers to research questions related to the refining, processing and utilization of biomass. The research addresses challenges related to resource efficiency and climate change.
