Project Details


The BioFlow project will develop safe and sustainable redox flow batteries for large scale stationary energy storage. The project aims to decrease the price of the electricity storage to facilitate the phasing out of fossil fuel based electricity production. The environmentally friendly electricity generation methods based on intermittent resources like wind and solar power require inexpensive and scalable energy storage options. The materials will be sustainable by design, and computer based screening will be employed for discovering new materials for flow batteries. The research will be performed in a consortium between Aalto University and University of Jyväskylä.
