Arrays with deep-neural-network backend for millimeter-wave beamforming applications

Beamforming is widely used technology in telecommunications, automotive radar, and imaging systems. The demand to communicate ever larger amounts of digital content is considered a megatrend. The capacity of telecommunications can only be increased with increasing the frequency they operate. Unfortunately, beamforming at tens of gigahertzes poses challenges to the industry. ADENN project answers to some of the key issues in bringing beamforming arrays to the next level. The project aims in reduction of the hardware-level complexity and utilizes deep neural networks. The new technology enables devices that have lower cost of manufacture and are capable to perform beamforming tasks adaptively.
