    Personal profile

    Artistic and research interests

My academic interests cover widely topics of data management and socio-technical systems. For example, data and information quality, decision support systems, enterprise software systems, human-computer interaction, and workplace studies. From methodological point of view, my research approaches focus mainly to data management topics particularly from constructive and applied perspectives.

    Other skills

I have worked in data management practitioner, consultant, researcher, and teacher roles for 20 years in several business sectors. During these years, I have been an active advocate promoting quality and ethical perspectives in data management and business decision-making. I have also been a long-time president and a board member of DAMA Finland ry and a program committee member of the MIT CDOIQ Symposium. Currently, I am a senior advisor to Aalto University Executive Education helping to organize the first ever CDOIQ Nordic Symposium at Helsinki, Finland.

As a data management practitioner, I have a wide knowledge about concepts, methods and practices of information management as well as technologies related to analytics, business intelligence and data warehousing. In my work, I usually combine a broad set of best-practices from the fields of Software Engineering, Data Management, User Centred Design and Enterprise Architectures. My strengths are in translating business requirements to technological solutions and vice versa.

    Leadership in research work

I have lead research activities funded by Business Finland in a stock listed digitalization service company Siili Solutions Oyj. I planned the research project and helped the company to acquire the funding with Turku University lead consortium project - AI Governance and Auditing (AIGA).

During the project, we contributed to the shared consortium deliverables and delivered own company specific scientific contributions. For exampe, we developed and published an assesment method for trustworthiness of AI systems. The project improved Siili's brand visibility in AI landscape, improved internal capabilities in several service areas and lead to me being nominated for DAIR Awards AI Ethics Professional of the Year 2022.

The project continued my networking with DAMA International and MIT CDOIQ professional networks with active knowledge sharing and organizing joint events. This collaboration lead ultimately to the CDOIQ Nordic Symposium for Aalto University Executive Education.

Role in the preparation of funding applications for a research group

I have written several national consortium applications from a scratch to the final submission and gotten several times hundreds of thousands euros funding for academic as well as company projects. My role has been innovating application topic, conceptualizing research themes and tasks, acquiring external funding partners, drafting project plans and budgets and writing application contents.
