    Pekka Korvenmaa is a professor of design and culture at the Department of Design. He is an internationally well-known art and design historian, and many of his books have been translated to several languages. As the former Vice-Rector of the University of Art and Design Helsinki and Vice-Dean of Research of Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture, Korvenmaa has been visibly engaged with the dissemination of art and design research. He has given many plenary talks, keynotes, papers and lectures in international conferences, and acted as a chairperson, committee member and advisory board member in many of them.  Korvenmaa has taken part in design research and design school evaluations in the Nordic countries, and has had a strong influence in the forming of design and innovation policy in Finland.
