Personal profile

Artistic and research interests

My research focuses on the designer-maker and the cultivation of knowledge through the physical act of making, as well as the role of material engagement in fostering a more holistic conception of design. Fundamental to my work is the visuality of making: specifically, how spatial engagement facilitated by craft-driven practices can support interdisciplinary research and provide new perspectives on designing. I work in the field, laboratory, and workshop, combining material-driven exploration, craft methodologies, and digital tools. Prior to joining Aalto, I was a university lecturer at design faculties in Germany and the United States.
