    Personal profile

    Artistic and research interests

My research interest lies in participatory design. I argue for the necessity to combine various participatory approaches (e.g. in governance and urban planning) with participatory approaches in the design of digital media and IT. I have a particular interest in the Scandinavian Participatory Design approach to IT design and its expansion to design-in-use. I believe that this approach can provide much needed tools for handling many of the challenges of the digital age that relate to the need for better media literacy and a better understanding and possibility to be in control of the every day digital technologies that surround us. I am also interested in the way self-organized urban communities participate in shaping their ecologies of digital artifacts, and the consequences this has on possible collaborations with authorities as service providers.
