My research work uses futures studies approaches, aiming at exploring sustainable futures and pathways to reduce the environmental impact of our present food system from global to farm scale. I am interested in using a combination of social sciences and technical research approaches including visioning workshops, cognitive mapping, quantitative food system assesments, transition pathway mapping and design. I characterize myself as an interdisciplinary generalist rather than a specialist in any discipline, which means that I enjoy bringing people from different disciplines together for interdisciplinary research and education.
My present teaching and mentoring activities take place within the Sustainable Global Technologies program.
