Research and teaching concentrates on service life management and design of structures. Focus areas are: description of the ageing and deterioration processes of the building materials and structures, methods for the service life planning, condition surveys, repair and maintenance techniques for reinforced concrete structures, rendering and mould growth damage, different reinforcing bar materials, computerized monitoring of the hygrothermal behaviour of repaired structures, durability, life cycle and reliability analysis. Expertise has been developed especially on long-term testing. Research work concentrates on the computational modeling of structures and building materials.
