Personal profile

Artistic and research interests

My main research interests are the molecular mechanisms of photoreceptor cell signaling in the retina of the vertebrate eye, and increasingly, the mechanisms of neurodegeneration in certain retinal diseases. My research aims at developing novel therapies for age-related macular degeneration (AMD), and it involves the use of genetically modified mice and the use and development of state-of-the-art electrophysiological recording techniques and approaches, from single-cell recording to electroretinography (ERG) across the isolated retina and in vivo ERG.
