Description

Roundness measurement dataset

This dataset contains measurement data of roundness reference workpieces. The measurements were performed to test a new developed variable diameter three-point roundness measurement device ROMES by comparing ROMES results to measurement results obtained with a roundness measurement instrument.

Measurement with Talyrond roundness measurement instrument

Raw measurement data of five roundness reference workpieces measured with Taylor Hobson Talyrond TR31c roundess measurement instrument.

Gaussian filter with 15 UPR cutoff according to ISO 12181-2 was applied before calculating the roundness profiles and roundness values.
Converted values in .csv format are the displacement values in micrometers 3600 points per revolution.
Software to convert measurement data from Talyrond .PLN file format is included in folder pydpack/

Three-probe measurement

Workpieces 1 and 2 were measured with a new three-probe roundness measurement instrument mounted in a lathe.

For each measurement, 10 rounds of data with 2500 pulses per revolution were measured.
CSV files contain values for index number, S1, S2, S3 and S4 (not used)
All tactile probe readings (S1 to S3) will need to be multiplied by 1/409.6 to obtain the displacement in micrometers.
Nominal angles of the tactile probes are 0, 49.75 and 88.75 degrees.
