Artist researcher and positivist?
In recent years, artists have successfully argued for and attained the possibility of including research as one of the instruments of their practice. There has been an intense (and continuing) debate regarding the entry of art “objects” as element(s) in the knowledge production chain. However, not much effort has been spent on reflecting about the changes that doing research itself brings to the art practice. What types of new art objects and perspectives are artistic researchers developing and can it tell us anything about art practices? This presentation will elaborate this theme, with a particular focus on artists (and designers) pursuing advanced degrees in the arts.
