Activity: Participating in or organising an event typesOrganization of a workshop, panel, session or tutorial

The transdisciplinary seminar is for professionals with diverse backgrounds (designers, molecular biologistists, material engineers…). Starting point of the workshop is the observation microbial cellulose (MB), a natural polymer with unique aesthetic properties which is used for biomedical, artistic and design purposes. We will focus on Glucoacetobacter hansenii as inhabitant of multiple ecosystems: the laboratory, the kitchen, the artist’s studio. By comparing laboratory protocols for G. hansenii cultivation with outside-the-lab techniques, the seminar prompts to re-think established research protocols and challenge one’s own comfort zone in research work. Ethical discussion will follow.
