Description

The increasing interest in urban nature and its connection with urban sustainability and resilience has promoted the generalized use of new concepts such a Green Infrastructure; Ecosystem Services; Nature based solution or Natural capital. However, and due to their heterogeneous origin and interpretations, the usage and understanding of these concepts might vary considerably between different academic or professional groups, affecting their coordinated and synergic use in integrative planning education and suggesting the need of exploring more clear syntaxes or articulations between them. Following this observation, an integrative or synthetic model including all these concepts was proposed and applied in three editions of one studio-course of the Master programme of Landscape Architecture of Aalto University. Both the model and the students´ works were analysed and assessed by different types of planners, researchers and practitioners in order to determine the general validity and utility of the model, detect divergences between different types of users and identify potential improvements in the proposed model and in its academic application.
