New Paradigm in Operations Planning & Control: Bottom-up Integration through Granular Transaction Forecasts

Activity: Talk or presentation typesConference presentation

Description

Operations planning and control (OP&C) leverage the available technological capabilities to balance supply with demand and translate strategic goals into actionable details. However, the recent advancements in technology are not yet reflected in the general OP&C frameworks and the practice has evolved from existing literature. One particular advancement is the bottom-up channel of information flow and its more purposeful adoption to the OP&C design. In this
paper, we propose this bottom-up channel, that initiates at the retail end and uses granular data to generate transactional forecasts that are aggregated along the planning hierarchy, and resultant improvements in supply chain planning.
