The studio started considering that Sotkamo_Talvivara is more than mining. It is a territory and the people who live there. The studio explored and develop alternatives to:
1) Detect the environmental, social and economic potentials and problems of the area
2) Increase the environmental, social and economic resilience of the site (Diversification of economic activities, mitigation of mining impacts, participation of local communities)
3) Concretize the proposals in pilot projects and plans
The course included a study trip and the participation of local communities (creation of a web site, contacts with local communities, stakeholders and agents).
