Description
Hydrogels of cellulose nanofibrils (CNF) were used to develop continuous filaments via wet-spinning. We present our findings in relation to the effects of hydrogel viscosity and spinnability, as well as orientation and strength, which were found to be strongly affected by the colloidal interactions in the system. Besides a thorough characterization, we report on the effect of water on the integrity of the as-produced filaments and the methods that can be used to reduce the hydrophilicity of the system.
