Description
The workshop led by @criticaldías is proposed as a space to re-elaborate the co-constitutive relation between 'race' and 'technology'. It departs from a study of Spain and France's 'Black Codes' as they intersect European philosophy, art and later science practices and leads towards a critical reading of twenty-first century AI, big data, assisted reproduction and social media practices. Participants look at the ways race and racism have functioned as an algorithm of difference and (affective) indifference throughout history, while examining the distinctive set of socio-technical conditions that have given rise to twenty-first century racism.
